Alison, Allison, Allyson |
|||||
FOR REAL: Alison started out as a medieval Norman nickname for Alice. It was popular in Scotland and England as well, but stayed continuously popular in Scotland, whereas it died out and was recently resurrected in England. Because of this, it is often mistakenly thought to be a Scottish name. In Scotland, Alison was adopted and changed into the Gaelic forms Allsun and Allasan in addition to being used in its original Norman form. See Alice for more information. | |||||
